    Algunos importantes teóricos políticos contemporáneos, entre ellos Müller y McCormick, han querido vincular las reflexiones de Carl Schmitt sobre Europa con diferentes proyectos de organización política (la Unión Europea o el fallido tratado constitucional de 2003). Estas consideraciones han solido asumir que en la obra de Schmitt se defiende una imagen unitaria de Europa, lo cual es una aproximación equivocada. Este artículo se propone analizar la ambivalente imagen de Europa en la obra de Schmitt. Con esta aportación no solo se llenará un vacío bibliográfico, sino que se podrá establecer un diálogo más realista y preciso entre el concepto schmittiano de Europa y proyectos concretos de organización política de Europa.

    Some important political theorists, Müller and McCormick among them, have tried to link Carl Schmitt’s image of Europe and different political projects (the European Union, the 2003 failed constitutional treaty). This reflections have usually understood Carl Schmitt’s image of Europe as unitary, which is an unprecise approach. In this article I propose to fully analyze Carl Schmitt’s concept of Europe. With this article, not only a bibliographical vacuum would be fulfilled, but also it would make possible to establish a more realistic and accurate dialogue between the schmittian concept of Europe and concrete projects of political organizations in Europe.
