    El objetivo del presente trabajo es determinar el tenor científico de la sociología de la religión a través de una reflexión acerca de su método y el de sus fuentes. A tales fines y con el objeto de honrar su nacimiento, se ha elegido a “La Ética Protestante y el Espíritu del Capitalismo” -su piedra fundacional- como la obra a ser analizada. Para ello, es necesaria una breve introducción acerca del concepto de ciencia -sus implicancias y sus derivaciones-, así como también una somera descripción de la circunstancia histórica en la que la producción de la obra en análisis tuvo lugar. A la postre, será desarrollado el estudio de su episteme, arribando oportunamente a las conclusiones parciales y definitivas

    The aim of the present work is to determine the scientific tenor of the sociology of religion through a reflection on its method and that of its sources. To these ends and in order to honor its birth, “Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism” – its foundational stone – has been chosen as the work to be analyzed. This requires a brief introduction about the concept of science – its implications and its derivations – as well as a brief description of the historical circumstance in which the production of the work under analysis took place. In the end, the study of its episteme will be developed, arriving in a timely manner to the partial and definitive conclusions.
