Sustentabilidade na supressão de florestas para fins de mineração em área de domínio da Mata Atlântica

    The present article aims to evaluate if the suppression of native vegetation in an Atlantic Forest domain for mining purposes is compatible with the system of sustainable development in the Brazilian order. Mining, in this scenario, assumes a high polluting potential, especially for reaching a specially protected biome. Exploratory research and the hypothetical deductive method will be used, incorporating an empirical bias of the State of Minas Gerais. The result of the discussion demonstrates that the logic of the compensations foreseen in the current legislation makes compatible such activities involving suppression of native vegetation to the precepts of sustainable development.

    O presente artigo objetiva analisar a questão do bioma e da Mata Atlântica à luz da legislação que confere sua proteção no ordenamento jurídico brasileiro, e também no estado de Minas Gerais, considerando a mineração no referido bioma. Utilizar-se-ão a pesquisa exploratória e  o método hipotético dedutivo. Concluir-se-á com a afirmação de que a supressão de vegetação de Mata Atlântica em virtude do desenvolvimento de atividades minerárias na respectiva área, é compatível com a sustentabilidade ambiental, de acordo com as regras definidas pela legislação vigente.
