Este artículo se basó en la investigación de la Educación Intercultural Bilingüe, intitulada: La enseñanza–aprendizaje de la lengua y cultura garífuna en la Escuela Primaria “Enmanuel Mongalo” de la comunidad de Orinoco, municipio de Laguna de Perlas, RAAS. Desde hace varios años se inició en la escuela primaria “Enmanuel Mongalo” la enseñanza–aprendizaje de la lengua garífuna, una actividad de suma importancia no solamente para los garífuna de Orinoco; sino para la revitalización de la lengua garífuna y el patrimonio cultural. Los garífunas están en una lucha constante por la revitalización de su lengua y cultura como población étnica, y con esta meta se ha desarrollado la enseñanza de la lengua garífuna durante más de nueve años en la Escuela Primaria “Enmanuel Mongalo” de Orinoco.
This article was based on the research on Bilingual Intercultural Education, entitled: The teaching-learning of the Garífuna language and culture at the Enmanuel Mongalo Primary School from Orinoco Community, Laguna de Perlas municipality, RAAS. For several years the teaching-learning of the Garífuna language began at the Enmanuel Mongalo Elementary School, an activity of great importance not only for the Orinoco Garífuna; but for the revitalization of the Garífuna language and the cultural heritage. The Garífunas are in a constant struggle for the revitalization of their language and culture as an ethnic population, and with this goal the teaching of the Garífuna language has been developed for more than nine years at Enmanuel Mongalo Primary School in Orinoco.
