Patrimônio, turismo e desenvolvimento: um estudo sobre a Puxada do Mastro de São Sebastião em Olivença, Ilhéusbahia

    Este estudo apresenta e discute os resultados da vivência em campo realizada em Olivença (Ilhéus-BA), onde se investigou as relações entre o turismo e o patrimônio cultural, enfatizando os processos sociais correspondentes à construção de pertença sobre o patrimônio imaterial. Tendo como foco a celebração da Festa de São Sebastião de Olivença, discute-se a apropriação simbólica do bem cultural pela comunidade a partir de uma perspectiva de desenvolvimento turístico endógeno. O presente estudo insere-se no contexto da disciplina “Patrimônio, Turismo e Desenvolvimento Local” vinculada à rede de estudos da Cátedra Cultural, Turismo e Desenvolvimento da UNESCO e oferecida pelos programas de Pós-graduação em Mudança Social e Participação Política e Pós-graduação em Turismo da Universidade de São Paulo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória descritiva com análise bibliográfica, pesquisa de campo e coleta de depoimentos. Analisando a atuação da Associação dos Machadeiros de Olivença (AMAO), entidade comunitária responsável pela organização da Puxada do Mastro de São Sebastião, o estudo identifica na mesma uma movimentação endógena de apropriação do patrimônio.

    This study presents and discusses the results of the field experience held in Olivença (Ilhéus-BA), where the relationship between tourism and cultural heritage was investigated, emphasizing the social processes corresponding to the construction of belonging to intangible heritage. Focusing on the celebration of the Feast of St. Sebastian of Olivença, the symbolic appropriation of the cultural heritage by the community is discussed, from a perspective of endogenous tourism development. The present study is part of the "Heritage, Tourism and Local Development" discipline linked to the UNESCO Cultural, Tourism and Development Chair's study network and offered by the Postgraduate programs in Social Change and Political Participation and Postgraduate Studies in Tourism of the University of São Paulo. This is an exploratory descriptive research with bibliographical analysis, field research and testimony collection. Analyzing the work of the Associação dos Machadeiros de Olivença (AMAO), a community entity responsible for organizing the celebration of San Sebastian, the study identifies an endogenous movement of appropriation of the patrimony.
