    A democracia apresenta-se muitas vezes como um fetiche da ciência política moderna. Dois elementos são fundamentais no contemporâneo significado de Estado democrático, trata-se dos conceitos de povo e representatividade. São termos complementares, cuja dissociações é impensável. Porém, apesar do vasto número de obras sobre o assunto tem-se várias lacunas sobre os temas, especialmente quando se busca desmistificar a democracia. Desse modo, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar os mitos que se constroem através do termo "Povo" e do exercício da representatividade no Brasil. Utilizando-se de uma metodologia analítica e interdisciplinar, buscar-se-á elencar algumas das irregularidade operacionais do sistema representativo brasileiro, que se resolveu denominar de disfunções míticas. Conclui-se que para que o Direito Eleitoral, assim como a própria ciência política possa, progredir neste quesito faz-se necessário uma abertura linguística sobre o termo povo e o combate das principais disfunções míticas que assolam o modo de fazer política no País.

    Democracy often appears as a fetish of modern political science. Two elements are essential in the contemporary meaning of Democratic State, it is about the concept of People and representativeness. They are complementary terms, whose dissociation is unthinkable. However, despite the large number of works on the subject, there are several gaps on the theme, especially when seeking to demystify democracy. Thus, this study has the objective of analyze the myths that are built around the term "People" and the exercise of representativeness in Brazil. Using an analytical and interdisciplinary methodology, will be sought-list some of the operational irregularity of the Brazilian representative system, which it was determined to be called mythical dysfunction. It is concluded that for the Election Law, as well as to the political science it is possible the progress in this regard it is necessary a linguistic openness about the term “people” and struggle the main mythical dysfunctions plaguing the way of doing politics in the country.
