    O texto visa apresentar a leitura liberal culturalista de Will Kymlicka sobre o multiculturalismo e a universalidade dos direitos humanos. Demonstra as diferentes posições que assumem os liberais e os comunitarisas no enfrentamento dos problemas de igualdade e de diferença que caracterizam as demandas de identidade e de pertença cultural. Refere que os direitos humanos são patrimônio comum da humanidade, e que sua universalidade mediadora/moderada é indispensável para a construção de um diálogo intercultural e para a elaboração de propostas de emancipação social que evitem tendências universalistas que homogeneízam e que combatam a desigualdade opressora travestida de direito à diferença. Conclui-se que Kymlicka evita os exageros tanto do comunitarismo quanto do liberalismo, defendendo uma posição intermediária que poderíamos designar de liberalismo cultural.

    The text aims to present Will Kymlicka culturalistic liberal reading about multiculturalism and the universality of the human rights. It shows the different positions that the liberals and the communitarians assume on the confrontation of the problems about equality and difference which feature identity and cultural belonging demands. It refers that the human rights are comum heritage of the humanity and that their mediator/moderate universality is indispensable for the construction of a intercultural dialogue and the elaboration of social emancipation proposals that avoids universalists tendecies that homogenize and fight the opressor inequality disguised on right to difference. It is concluded that Kymlicka avoids exaggerations on both communitarianism as liberalism, defending an intermediate position which we can call cultural liberalism.
