Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as possibilidades de desenvolvimento turístico da cidade de Ilhéus Bahia, por meio do turismo de esportes. Para tal, foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória com abordagem qualiquantitativa, com aplicação de questionário.
Trata-se de um recorte do estudo, em que foi analisada a opinião dos participantes do XXV Torneio de Pesca da Gabriela. Os dados demonstraram que o XXV Torneio de Pesca da Gabriela configura-se em um evento esportivo importante para o desenvolvimento turístico de Ilhéus, tendo em vista a sua história, o alto poder aquisitivo dos participantes,dentre outros fatores. No entanto, verificou-se a desarticulação do poder local, evidenciada na dificuldade em estabelecer relaçõ es entre o Esporte e o Turismo e na inexistência de um calendário oficial que divulgue os eventos. O estudo comprovou a viabilidade econômica e social do evento em questão, demonstrado a partir dos efeitos multiplicadores do turismo, como aumento no consumo de bens e serviços, além da possibilidade de minimização dos efeitos da sazonalidade turística

This article aims to analyze the possibilities for tourism development in the city of Ilhéus- Bahia, through sports tourism. To this end, an exploratory research with qualitative and quantitative approach, a questionnaire was carried out. This is a clippi ng from the study, which was analyzed participants' perceptions of the XXV Fishing Tournament Gabriela. The data demonstrated that the XXV Fishing Tournament Gabriela configured in a major sporting event for the tourism development of Ilhéus, in view of its history, the high purchasing power of the participants , among other factors . However, there was the dismantling of local government, evidenced in the difficulty in establishing relationships between Sport and Tourism and the lack of an official calendar to publicize events. The study confirmed the economic and social viability of the event in question, shown from the multiplier effects of tourism, such as increased consumption of goods and services, plus the ability to minimize the effects of tourism seasonality
