La dignidad de la persona ante el desafío de la biotecnología

    El derecho a la libertad de investigación es un derecho fundamental que el científico ejerce libremente sin más límites que.el respeto a los derechos humanos consagrados en las Declaraciones Universales de Derechos. Yo diría que el único límite a la investigación científica es precisamente la dignidad de las personas, entendiendo por persona todo individuo de la especie humana. Ciertamente “la excelencia del hombre, el alto valor proporcionado a la grandeza de su ser constituye el secreto para discernir lo permisible de lo censurable. El respeto y promoción de la persona, el carácter inviolable de su dignidad, son los límites infranqueables de la acción, la frontera insalvable.de las técnicas aplicables a la vida humana”.

    The right to the freedom of investigation is a fundamental right that the scientist freely exerts without more limits than the respect to the human rights consecrated in the Universal Declarations of Rights. I would say that the only limit to the scientific research is indeed the dignity of the people, understanding by person all individual of the human species. Certainly “the excellence of the man, the high value provided to the greatness of its being constitutes the secret to discern the permissible thing of the censurable. The respect and promotion of the person, the character inviolable of their dignity, are the insurmountable limits of the action, the unsalvable border of the techniques applicable to the human life”.
