    This paper discusses the prevention measures contemplated by the Law n. 8.069/90 – Statute of the child and adolescent – and provided in a pioneer way in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989 and the action of the state regulating the access of these individuals to culture, information and entertainment produced by the media. It compares benefits and risks of broadcasting information and programs which may be unsuitable to this age, a concern that becomes more serious regarding the informational society, since in the past the concern was in the excessive exposition to television, nowadays these digital natives have  access to a series of diverse materials, many of them inadequate to their age and harmful to their complete development, which raises new inquiries to the full protection system.

    Este artigo discute as medidas de prevenção contempladas na Lei n. 8.069/90 – Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente – e previstas pioneiramente na Convenção Internacional sobre os Direitos da Criança, de 1989, e a atuação estatal na regulamentação do acesso desses sujeitos à cultura, informação e entretenimento produzidos pelos meios de comunicação social. Coteja benefícios e riscos da veiculação de informação e programação, que podem se mostrar inadequadas à faixa etária, o que se agrava no contexto da sociedade informacional, pois, se outrora a preocupação centrava-se na excessiva exposição à televisão, atualmente esses nativos digitais acessam os mais variados materiais, muitos deles impróprios à idade e prejudiciais ao seu pleno desenvolvimento, o que coloca novas interrogantes ao sistema de proteção integral.
