    The radiographic examination is an auxiliary method of diagnosis used in further elucidation of most of the diseases that affect pets, being extremely efficient, fast and low cost. The more diversified are the methods of diagnosis by images such as ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine, the more the importance of radiology becomes more useful, facilitating the possibility of directing a first investigation, especially in emergencies, and contribute to some minimally invasive surgical interventions. The equipment radiographic systems to the study of bone and joint and other organs located in both the thoracic and abdominal cavity, thus becoming an essential tool in the supplementary examination This study aimed to conduct a survey of radiographic examinations performed at Veterinary Hospital Dr. Maeda Francisco School of the year of 2008 and described them according to region and position radiography, even identifying the species, breed, sex of animal and clinical suspicion, where it can be concluded that in the year 2008 were radiographic examinations performed in 73 animals, with dogs, female and mixed breed with suspected fractures were the most performed using X-rays more frequently the latero-lateral position for observation of chest and limbs.

    O exame radiográfico é o método auxiliar de diagnóstico mais utilizado na elucidação de grande parte das patologias que acometem os animais de companhia, por ser extremamente eficiente, rápido e de custo relativamente baixo. Quanto mais diversificam-se os métodos de diagnóstico por imagens como ultra-som, tomografia computadorizada, ressonância magnética e medicina nuclear, mais a importância do radiodiagnóstico se torna mais útil, facilitando a possibilidade de orientar uma primeira investigação, especialmente nas emergências, além de contribuir para algumas intervenções cirúrgicas minimamente invasivas. Os equipamentos radiográficos permitem o estudo dos sistemas ósseo e articular e dos demais órgãos localizados tanto na cavidade torácica como abdominal, tornando-se desta forma uma ferramenta essencial no exame complementar O presente trabalho teve como objetivo realizar um levantamento dos exames radiográficos realizados no Hospital Veterinário da Faculdade Dr. Francisco Maeda no decorrer do ano de 2008 e caracterizá-los de acordo com a região e posição radiografada, identificando ainda a espécie, raça, sexo do animal e a suspeita clínica, onde podendo concluir que no ano de 2008 foram realizados exames radiográficos em 73 animais, sendo que fêmeas da espécie canina, sem raça definida com suspeita de fratura apresentaram a maior casuística para a indicação do exame e a posição mais utilizada para a realização da técnica foi a látero lateral.
