Este volumen contiene una selección de artículos sobre el humor y la tragedia en Irlanda, que se presentaron en el IV Congreso Internacional de la Asociación Española de Estudios Irlandeses en Málaga. La tragedia siempre ha estado presente en la historia de Irlanda. Un país que ha padecido invasiones, hambrunas, luchas políticas, una guerra civil, persecuciones y privaciones de todas clases, no podría haber salido adelante sin esa cualidad irlandesa tan significativa: el humor. Un sentido de humor que les permite observar las cosas con perspectiva y les sirve de válvula de escape para afrontar los altibajos de la vida cotidiana, al tiempo que relaja la tensión y el estrés.
