  The original text used for the English translation is that of the third edition:

  “L’any en estampes” (Institut d’Estudis Eivissencs, Eivissa, 1981).

  This unusual work by Marià Villangómez Llobet is a classic account of the yearly round on the Mediterranean island of Eivissa in 1953. It is set in the rural parish of Sant Miquel (“Saint Michael”) but the August chapter (“News from the Village”) is dedicated, by way of contrast, to the capital town.
