    Este texto recoge los resultados de investigaciones realizadas en torno al papel que han cumplido los distintos caminos antiguos en la articulación e integración social y económica de la región del altiplano Cundiboyacense, y las conexiones con el río Magdalena y con otras regiones, que facilitaron el intercambio y la comunicación del interior del país, con las zonas costeras y los Llanos Orientales.

    El texto está estructurado en dos partes: la primera está compuesta por cuatro capítulos que retoman el análisis y los cambios del camino antiguo entre Tunja y Santafé desde el periodo colonial, pasando por el siglo XIX, hasta el siglo XX cuando se convirtió en carretera central del norte, y se finaliza con un estudio de sus nociones físico-espaciales y significado territorial, retomando relatos y memorias de las comunidades circunvecinas.

    En la segunda parte del libro se estudian tres caminos distintos que comunican el altiplano Cundiboyacense con otras regiones, como son el Camino del Cravo que conducía a los Llanos Orientales, el Camino a Honda y el Camino del Carare que comunicaban a Santafé y a Tunja, respectivamente, con el río Magdalena.

    Todos estos caminos fueron de gran importancia para la circulación de mercancías producidas en el interior del actual territorio colombiano. Cada una de estas investigaciones está sustentada en distintas fuentes documentales y testimoniales que han permitido a los autores generar diversas reflexiones en torno a estos caminos.

    This text includes the results of research carried out concerning the role of the different ancient roads in their articulation and socio-economic integration of the Cundiboyacense altiplano region, the connections with the Magdalena River and other regions, which facilitated the exchange and communication of the interior of the country, with the coastal areas and the Eastern Plains. The text is divided into two parts: the first is composed of four chapters that make up the analysis and changes of the ancient road between Tunja and Santafé, in the colonial period, XIX and XX centuries when the road became the central road of the north, ending this section with a study of the physical-spatial notions and the territorial meaning from the memories and stories of the communities. In the second part of the book, three different roads that connected the Cundiboyacense highlands with other regions are studied: the Cravo road, the Honda road, and the Carare road that connected Santafé and Tunja, respectively, with the Magdalena River.

    All these roads were of great importance for the circulation of goods produced in the interior of the current Colombian territory. Each of these investigations is supported by different documentary and testimonial sources that have allowed the authors to generate various reflections on these ancient roads.
