Información General

Resumen

  • The International Railway History Association aims to unite railway historians, museum and archives experts and other professionals, in a reflection on railways history. Liberalization was on the edge of dismantling old companies when the IRHA was created. IRHA aspires to entice attention to railway archives’ destiny in evolving company structures. The present book edits the proceedings of the second IRHA conference that took place in Lisbon at the 150th anniversary of the railway from Lisbon to Carregado inauguration.

Railway modernization was the topic of the conference that also gave the title to this book. Railway modernization grew in a Europe struggling to cope with environmental concerns while facing global challenges. This topic, once a marginal subject among historians, became an important research theme.
