  Carmen Gómez Martín recupera la resistencia migrante protagonizada por personas colombianas ante las oficinas del acnur en Quito en 2019. En una etnografía multisituada, reconstruye las trayectorias vitales y migratorias de tres familias que participaron en el episodio. Muestra cómo huyeron del conflicto armado, se desplazaron interna y transnacionalmente para buscar refugio en Ecuador, pero luego tuvieron que esperar o migrar de nuevo dentro del propio país, en un retorno forzado o hacia nuevos destinos en las Américas.

  Mediante sus voces y las de otros actores de los derechos humanos y la academia expone los reveses y paradojas de las llamadas soluciones duraderas: la repatriación voluntaria, la integración local y el reasentamiento en un tercer país. En su reverso identifica la lucha migrante, no la de víctimas pasivas, sino la de guerreras en movimiento que escapan para sostener la vida más allá de un Estado nación excluyente.

  Este libro refleja un compromiso teórico y político, e invita a repensar el sistema del refugio —hoy en agonía— partiendo de resistencias acumuladas y presentes.

  Carmen Gómez Martín recovers the migrant resistance led by Colombian people in front of UNHCR offices in Quito in 2019. In a multisited ethnography, she reconstructs the life and migratory trajectories of three families who participated in the episode. She shows how they fled armed conflict, internally and transnationally displaced themselves to seek refuge in Ecuador, but then had to wait or migrate again within the country itself, in a forced return or towards new destinations in the Americas.

  Through their voices and those of other human rights actors and academia, she exposes the setbacks and paradoxes of the so-called durable solutions: voluntary repatriation, local integration, and resettlement in a third country. On the other hand, she identifies migrant struggle—not as passive victims, but as warriors on the move who escape to sustain life beyond an exclusionary nation-state.

  This book reflects a theoretical and political commitment and invites rethinking the refugee system—now in agony—starting from accumulated and present resistances.
