Los cementerios ciudadanos tienen un extraordinario valor cultural e histórico como lugar de encuentro entre el presente de los vivos y el pasado de los muertos.

Son los más potentes y simbólicos lugares de la memoria de una comunidad y de una sociedad. La Ruta de Personas Ilustres forma parte del programa cultural promovido por el Ayuntamiento para revalorizar y resignificar el importante patrimonio histórico y cultural del Cementerio de Torrero; está compuesta por 31 recordatorios funerarios localizados y señalados en su parte antigua.

La ruta, pensada para ser recorrida a pie, selecciona a personas de innegable reconocimiento ciudadano, tanto en su época, por sus contemporáneos, como en la nuestra, identificables por los vecinos de hoy y de mañana en el callejero y en el mobiliario urbano, así como en el recuerdo y el pasado ciudadano.

The route of Illustrious Persons is part of cultural program promoted by the City to reevaluate and redefine the important historical and cultural heritage of the Cemetery of Torrero; has 31 localized and identified funeral reminders in the old part.

The route, designed to be traveled on foot, selects people of undeniable recognition citizen, both in its time, by his contemporaries, as in ours, identifiable by the neighbors of today and tomorrow in the street and in the urban furniture, as well as in the memory and the past citizen.
