    Tanto el mito como elemento articulador de un pensamiento derivado de los orígenes mágicos, como la conmemoración de lo que un día existió y dejó de existir (Rosalind Krauss), han constituido dos de las fuerzas motoras más importantes que han impulsado a pueblos y civilizaciones primitivas hacia unas materializaciones culturales en diversos soportes, sobre todo pétreos, con el objetivo de intentar traer simbólicamente a presencia aquello que difícilmente puede ser nombrado mediante palabras o un lenguaje al uso. Conscientes de que, considerar dichos esfuerzos para la puesta en pie de objetos de cultura-material como productos artísticos puede resultar cuanto menos aventurado, no podemos obviar su carácter en ocasiones monumental e iconográficamente significativo. Muchos de esos testimonios han sido a menudo heredados por la praxis artística contemporánea, trayendo a veces a colación su esencia desde un espíritu moderno; lo que ha redundado en el trasfondo estético que subyace en ámbitos geoculturales como el País Vasco y otros ejemplos.

    Bai elementu antolatzaile gisa oinarri magikoetatik eratorri den mitoa, baita behinola existitu eta gero izateari utzi zionaren oroitzapena ere (Rosalind Krauss), zibilizazio primitiboak euskarri anitzetan, batez ere harrian, material bihurtu dituzten adierazpen kulturalen motore eragile garrantzitsuenetariko bi izan dira, hitz arruntez edota lengoaia komunez izendatzea zaila egiten zaiguna sinbolikoki agerrarazteko helburuaz. Kultura-materialaren objektu horiek produktu artistiko bezala defendatuz zutik jartzeko eginiko saiakerak urruti jotzea kontsideratu daitezkeela kontziente izanda, ezin dugu gaitzetsi haien izaera batzutan monumentala eta ikonografikoki adierazgarria. Lekuko horietako askoren testigantzak praxi artistiko garaikideak maiz herentzian jaso ditu, beraien esentzia izpiritu modernoaren senetik eguneratuz; horrela Euskal Herrian zein bestelako testuinguru geokulturaletan datzan hondo estetikoa berrezten dute.

    Both the myth as focal point of thought derived from magical sources, such as the remembrance of what once existed and ceased to exist (Rosalind Krauss), have been two of the most important driving forces that have propelled peoples and early civilizations towards a cultural embodiments in various media, especially stone, with the aim of trying to symbolically bring that presence that can hardly be named by words or language to use. Aware that these efforts to consider the setting up of objects of material culture and may be the less risky artistic products, we can’t ignore its monumental character and iconography significant. Many of these testimonies are often inherited by contemporary artistic practice, sometimes bringing it up essentially from a modern spirit; which has resulted in the aesthetic background underlying geo-cultural areas such as the Basque Country and other examples
