    Este artículo trata del proceso para “hacerse del lugar” de los emigrantes que llegaron a Azkoitia (Gipuzkoa) en las décadas de 1950-1960 procedentes del Estado español. Dicha inmigración fue producto de la industrialización y supuso un cambio del ámbito rural al urbano, lo que conllevó nuevos retos para la sociedad: la aparición de barrios periféricos, el choque entre culturas e idiomas diferentes y la formación de una sociedad nueva. Estos cambios han afectado distintamente a los inmigrantes, puesto que el espacio, el género, la educación y las generaciones juegan un papel importante. Dicho proceso se ha realizado progresivamente, basándose en diferentes identidades, sobre todo, la local. Ello da a entender la creación de una sociedad nueva, pero necesitada del beneplácito de la sociedad receptora.

    Lan honek 1950-60ko hamarkadetan Estatu espainoletik Azkoitira (Gipuzkoa) iritsitako immigranteek eta euren ondorengoek igarotako bertakotze prozesuaz dihardu. Immigrazio hori goranzko industriak bideratu zuen, eta kasu gehienetan, landa-eremutik eremu urbanorako jauzia suposatu zuen. Ondorioz, erronka berriak garatu ziren gizartean: auzo periferikoen sorrera, hizkuntza-kultura ezberdinen arteko talka, eta gizarte berritu baten eraketa. Immigranteek era ezberdinean bizi izan dituzte aldaketa horiek, non espazioa, generoa, hezkuntza/hizkuntza eta belaunaldia aldagai garrantzitsuak bilakatzen diren.     This article examines the process of “becoming a local,” focusing on the Spanish immigrants who moved to the village of Azkoitia (Gipuzkoa) over the course of the 1950’s and 60’s. This immigration, being a product of industrialization, entailed a shift from a rural to an urban environment. As a result, the inhabitants were faced with new challenges: the appearance of outlying neighborhoods, the clash between different languages and cultures, and the creation of a new society. The immigrants were not all affected equally by these changes, as space, gender, education, language, and generation all played an important part in this. The process of “becoming from Azkoitia” has been ongoing, and is based upon different identities, particularly the “local” one. This has in turn led to a better understanding of how a new society is created, which requires the acceptance of the receiving society.
