Entre los siglos XVI y XVII, hubo un Hospital Militar cerca del Castillo de São Jorge en Lisboa. El cementerio asociado al hospital tuvo seis fases de uso, siendo la tercera caracterizada por fossas comunes. El objetivo de este artículo es discutir las lesiones patológicas identificadas en un adulto joven masculino de la tercera fase. Se encontraron dos fracturas antemortem en la columna vertebral, una fractura por compresión en una vértebra lumbar y una fractura transversal en el sacro, que pueden haber ocurrido as mismo tiempo, causadas por una caída. Este incidente puede haber sido consecuencia del árduo trabajo asociado con el entorno militar.

Between the 16th and 17th centuries, there was a Military Hospital near São Jorge Castle in Lisbon. The cemetery associated with the hospital had six phases of use, the third characterized by mass graves. The aim of this article is to discuss the pathological lesions identified in a young adult male recovered from one of the collective graves. Two antemortem fractures were found in the vertebral column, namely a compression fracture in a lumbar vertebra and a transverse fracture in the sacrum, which may have occurred simultaneously, caused by a fall. This incident may have been a consequence of the hard work associated with the military environment.
