    Al comenzar la organización y descripción de la serie documental de expedientes de secretaría de la Catedral de Salamanca hemos sido conscientes de la enorme carga informativa que para la memoria de nuestra tierra, y no sólo, suponía este cúmulo de documentos. Se trata de unos expedientes resultado de la gestión de la secretaría capitular, muy íntimamente relacionada con la acción de los entes de gobierno de tan poderosa institución. Durante más de tres siglos estas fuentes reflejan buena parte de la historia salmantina, pero también nacional y a veces extranjera.

    When we begin with the organization and description of the documentary series of secretarial files of the Cathedral of Salamanca, we havbe been aware of the large amount of information about the history of our land contained in these documents, wich arte the results of the management of the chapter sectretarial, closely related to the management of the government entities of the cathedral.

    These documentary sources, created over more than three centuries, reflect a good part of Salamanca history, but are also useful for studying some aspects of Spanish a foreign history. In this paper these important documentary sources are studies.
