This study, focusing on Spanish science fiction from 2010-2020, proposes a typology based on three main chronotopes: anticipatory, creative chronotope, and recreative. Using Bakhtin's theory and the theory of possible worlds, it analyzes how these concepts manifest in science fiction narratives, creating alternative spaces and times that offer social criticism and philosophical inquiries. The anticipatory chronotope presents projected futures according to a recognizable present, typically featuring significant technological advancements. Examples of this include dystopias and utopias that reflect on humanity's fate based on its current development. In contrast, the creative chronotope presents unfamiliar times and places for the reader, exploring the implications of different scientific and technological developments in possible worlds. About the recreative chronotope, it focuses on reimagining the past by modifying historical events through time travel. This approach allows for reflection on history and its impact on the present and future, highlighting the importance of interpretation and the role of the reader in constructing these alternative worlds. Finally, the study emphasizes the need for a flexible and adaptable typology that allows for deep and diverse analysis of science fiction. Additionally, it highlights the intersection of science fiction with other literary genres and the relevance of the reader in the reception and construction of chronotopes, consolidating new paths for research and literary analysis.
