Introducir la "educación política" en la escuela despierta el fantasma del adoctrinamiento, y de la "Formación del espíritu nacional", impuesta por todas las dictaduras. Sin embargo, la situación actual de desprestigio de la política, la polarización feroz, las guerras culturales, el auge de movimientos iliberales y el desinterés por la democracia de parte importante de la juventud europea aconseja retomar el tema. La primera cuestión a resolver es: ¿puede haber una educación política no ideologizada? Solo podremos contestar afirmativamente si disponemos de un criterio de evaluación al que tengan que someterse las ideologías.

Introducing ‘political education’ in schools raises the spectre of indoctrination, and of the ‘formation of the national spirit’ imposed by all dictatorships. However, the current situation of the discrediting of politics, the fierce polarisation, the culture wars, the rise of illiberal movements and the lack of interest in democracy of a significant part of European youth makes it advisable to revisit the subject. The first question to be answered is: can there be a non-ideologised political education? We will only be able to answer in the affirmative if we have an evaluation criterion to which ideologies must be subjected.
