    La poesía religiosa es uno de los grandes representantes de la literatura bizantina. Dentro de la esfera poética se encuentra el género de la himnografía, cuyo máximo exponente es un tipo de himno conocido como “kontákion”. Desde las primeras ediciones de “kontákia” en el s. XIX han aparecido breves estudios sobre algunos aspectos de este tipo de himno, pero todos se han publicado de forma dispersa y el interés académico generalmente se ha centrado más en los himnógrafos que en el propio género hímnico. El propósito de este artículo es proporcionar una actualización del material bibliográfico existente y ofrecer una visión diacrónica de la historia de la himnografía. Este estudio es original por su carácter sinóptico, ya que reúne los distintos aspectos del himno, desde sus orígenes hasta su apogeo, que a menudo se han estudiado por separado.

    Religious poetry is one of the great representatives of Byzantine literature. Within the poetic sphere is the genre of hymnography, whose greatest exponent is a type of hymn known as “kontakion”. Since the first editions of “kontakia” in the 19th century, brief studies of certain aspects of this type of hymn have appeared, but they have all been published in a scattered manner, and the scholarly interest has generally focused on the hymnographers rather than on the hymnic genre itself. The purpose of this article is to provide an update of the existing bibliographical material and to offer a diachronic overview of the history of hymnography. This study is original in its synoptic character, bringing together the various aspects of the hymn, from its origins to its apogee, which have often been studied separately.
