    El presente trabajo tiene como fin abordar y analizar el episodio de la revuelta africana del año 238 que acabó siendo encabezada por Gordiano I y Gordiano II, padre e hijo, a través de las fuentes primarias y estudios posteriores, con el fin de estudiar el origen y desarrollo de la sublevación que culminaría con la muerte de sus dos protagonistas, así como procurar dilucidar quiénes fueron éstos. La discusión de algunas de las cuestiones y detalles en torno al susodicho episodio constituirá uno de los pilares fundamentales que sustentarán este estudio, tales como la extensión, la cronología o la personalidad e importancia que las fuentes atribuyen a los dos efímeros emperadores.

    The purpose of this work is to cover and analyze the episode of the African revolt of the year 238 that ended up being led by Gordian I and Gordian II, father and son, through primary sources and secondary literature, in order to study the origin and development of the uprising that would culminate in the death of its two protagonists, as well as trying to elucidate who these characters were. The discussion of some of the issues and details surrounding the aforementioned episode will constitute one of the fundamental pillars that will support this study, such as the extension, the chronology or the personality and importance that the sources attribute to the two ephemeral emperors.
