  El presente texto es un fragmento del trabajo “La educación y los ingresos laborales en el Perú”, realizado por los autores con financia-miento del Fondo Concursable IECOS 2007. Esta sección explica la Teoría del Capital Humano según la cual la educación es una inversión para incrementar la capacidad productiva. Esta teoría permite utilizar fuentes empíricas accesibles y calcular el impacto real de la educa-ción sobre los ingresos. Las estimaciones econométricas se realizan para el país en su conjunto y para tres segmentaciones: área, sexo y tipo de trabajo. En un segundo apartado se hace un recuento de los estudios hechos en el Perú sobre educación y mercado laboral.

  This text is a fragment of the work "Education and labor income in Peru", carried out by the authors with financing from the IECOS 2007 Competitive Fund. This section explains the Human Capital Theory according to which education is an investment to increase productive capacity. This theory makes it possible to use accessible empirical sources and calculate the real impact of education on income. The econometric estimates are made for the country as a whole and for three segments: area, sex and type of work. In a second section, there is an account of the studies carried out in Peru on education and the labor market.
