Recursos energéticos y bioenergía en la educación secundaria: primeros resultados

    Este estudio investiga el conocimiento sobre recursos energéticos y cuestiones afines, y las percepciones y actitudes hacia la bioenergía de los estudiantes de secundaria. En concreto, sus objetivos son: 1) Evaluar el nivel de conocimientos sobre recursos energéticos y cuestiones afines y su variación con el nivel académico;

    2) Determinar las percepciones y las actitudes hacia la bioenergía y su variación con el nivel académico; y 3) Analizar la relación existente entre las dos medidas anteriores. Se han administrado dos cuestionarios: uno sobre obtención, generación, almacenamiento, transporte, consumo y conservación de la energía; y uno sobre percepciones y actitudes hacia la bioenergía. Han participado un total de 92 estudiantes de educación secundaria de cuatro cursos diferentes. De los resultados obtenidos se puede concluir que: a) el nivel de conocimientos sobre recursos energéticos y cuestiones relacionadas con ellos no es satisfactorio, aunque aumenta significativamente con el nivel académico; b) las percepciones y las actitudes encontradas son mediocres y no mejoran con el nivel académico; y c) existe una correlación significativa y positiva entre el nivel de conocimientos sobre obtención de la energía y las actitudes hacia la bioenergía; y entre el nivel de conocimientos sobre generación, almacenamiento y transporte de la energía, y actitudes hacia la bioenergía.

    This study investigates secondary students’ knowledge of energy resources and associated issues and perceptions and attitudes toward bioenergy. Specifically, its objectives has been: 1) To assess the level of knowledge about energy resources and related issues and their variation with the academic level; 2) Determine the perceptions and attitudes toward bionergy and its variation with the academic level; and 3) Analyse the relationship between the two previous measures. Two questionnaires have been administered:

    one, on energy acquisition, energy generation, storage and transport, and energy consumption and conservation; and the other on perceptions and attitudes toward bioenergy. A total of 92 secondary students from 8th to 11th grade participated in this study. Based on the scores obtained, it can be concluded that: a) students do not have an adequate knowledge of the energy resources and associated issues, but this knowledge significantly increases with the level of academic training; b) students have poor perceptions and attitudes toward bioenergy and they do not improve with the level of academic training; and c) there is a positive and significant correlation between the level of knowledge about energy acquisition and attitudes toward bioenergy, and between the level of knowledge about energy generation, storage and transport and attitudes toward bioenergy.
