Resumen de Las bandas de música en Los Santos: Fuentes de formación

Desde finales del siglo XIX hay documentación de la existencia de bandas de música en Los Santos de Maimona. La iniciativa de dos vecinos de Los Santos, Miguel Tena Álvarez y Juan Gordillo, hicieron posible que en Los Santos se creara una Banda de Música apoyada por el Ayuntamiento. Fue en agosto de 1890. Luego llegarían otras etapas y otros directores hasta la actualidad en que la banda de música de Los Santos sigue con el mismo régimen: el director es pagado por el Ayuntamiento, pero a los componentes no se les considera vinculados al consistorio. Este estudio permite comprobar el interés por la música en Los Santos y de qué manera estas bandas de música supusieron una formación a través de la primitiva Academia de Música y ya en tiempos más cercanos con la creación de la Escuela de Música de Los Santos a la cual la Banda de Música siempre ha estado ligada. Hemos incluido brevemente como motivo de estudio la banda de música del batallón infantil de las Escuelas Parroquiales de Don Ezequiel Fernández que tuvo vigencia a principios del siglo XX. En esta comunicación también abordamos la existencia de una Banda de Cornetas y Tambores que fue creada por la Cofradía del Amarrado a la Columna en los años 60 y que ha continuado en el tiempo, hasta la actualidad, con más o menos pujanza y distintos estilos e indumentarias: Banda de Romanos, de Cornetas y Tambores de Los Santos y de Ntra. Sra. de la Estrella. La música de banda ha sido siempre muy apreciada en Los Santos y es de resaltar que durante la etapa del franquismo, no hubo banda de música en el pueblo y los eventos se cubrían con la llegada de bandas militares de fuera.

Since the end of the 19th century there is documentation of the existence of music bands in Los Santos de Maimona. The initiative of two residents of Los Santos, Miguel Tena Álvarez and Juan Gordillo, made it possible for a Music Band to be created in Los Santos supported by the City Council. It was in August 1890. Then other stages and other directors would arrive until today when the Los Santos music band continues with the same regime: the director is paid by the City Council but the members are not considered linked to the council. This study allows us to verify the interest in music in Los Santos and how these music bands represented training through the primitive Music Academy and in closer times with the creation of the Los Santos Music School. which the Marching Band has always been linked to. We have briefly included as a subject of study the music band of the children's battalion of the Parochial Schools of Don Ezequiel Fernández that was in force at the beginning of the 20th century.In this communication we also address the existence of a Band of Cornets and Drums that was created by the Brotherhood of the Amarrado a la Columna in the 60s and that has continued over time, until today, with more or less strength and different styles and costumes: Band of Romans, Cornets and Drums of Los Santos and Our Lady of the Star. Band music has always been highly appreciated in Los Santos and it is noteworthy that during the Franco period there was no band in the town and the events were covered with the arrival of military bands from outside.
