En este capítulo se analizan las disputas y conflictos más rele-vantes de la costa africana del mar Rojo y el golfo de Adén, quedesdibujan la estabilidad en la región sembrándola de amenazasa la seguridad convirtiéndola en un polvorín.Las rivalidades y enfrentamientos hunden sus raíces décadasatrás y de manera especial, se fundamentan en la lucha por unrecurso tan esencial como es el agua.El combustible que impide aplacar el fuego del conflicto en laregión lo constituyen las distintas injerencias internacionales quesostienen de manera directa o más sutil las brasas nacionales yregionales a punto de prender.La situación de la región es de alta volatilidad y las condicioneshumanitarias en algunos casos son insostenibles.

This chapter analyzes the most relevant disputes and conflicts onthe African coast of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which dimthe stability in the region, sowing it with threats to security, andturning it into a tinderbox.Rivalries and confrontations put down their roots decades agoand, in a special way, are based on the fight for such an essentialresource as water.The fuel that prevents quenching the fire of the conflict in theregion is the various international interferences that directly, ormore subtly, sustain the national and regional embers that areabout to ignite.The situation in the region is highly volatile and humanitarianconditions in some cases are unsustainable.
