    La política de la Unión Europea ha abogado en los últimos tiempos por una flexibilización de la legislación internacional y comunitaria sobre protección del lobo. El pasado 3 de diciembre, el Comité Permanente del Convenio de Berna votaba a favor de la revisión de dicho tratado internacional a fin de rebajar el estatuto de protección del lobo a especie «protegida» frente a su tratamiento actual como especie «estrictamente protegida».

    La presente investigación analiza la situación jurídica del lobo en Europa junto con los recientes pronunciamientos jurisprudenciales del Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea a fin de advertir el futuro de la regulación del lobo a nivel comunitario. Sin duda, estas modificaciones que se proponen marcarán el devenir de la regulación específica e interna de los Estados miembros.

    European Union policy has recently advocated a relaxation of international and EU legislation on wolf protection. On 3 December last, the Standing Committee of the Bern Convention voted in support of revising the international treaty to downgrade the protection status of the wolf to a «protected» species from its current treatment as a «strictly protected» species.

    The present research analyses the legal situation of the wolf in Europe together with the jurisprudential pronouncements of the European Court of Justice in recent times, in order to see the future of wolf regulation at EU level. Undoubtedly, these proposed modifications will mark the future of the specific and internal regulation of the Member States.
