    El asunto de los alumbres de Mazarrón ha sido estudiado, desde diferentes perspectivas y escalas de observación, por Felipe Ruiz Martín (Los alumbres españoles. Un índice de la coyuntura económica europea en el siglo XVI), por Alfonso Franco Silva (El alumbre del reino de Murcia. Una historia de ambición, intrigas, riqueza y poder) y porMariano Guillén Riquelme (Un siglo en la historia de Mazarrón 1462-1572. De la fundación de las Casas de los Alumbres a la concesión del privilegio de villazgo). Las tres son lecturas imprescindibles para un conocimiento cabal de las múltiples implicaciones que el negocio alumbrero presentaba en esta localidad, y a ellas hay que remitirse, como referencia que son, para la documentación del tema. En este artículo se pretende realizar una mirada sobre las cuestiones territoriales relevantes en torno a esta actividad alumbrera en la localidad de Mazarrón. Y se pretende hacerlo desde una doble acepción de lo territorial: prestando atención a los aspectos jurisdiccionales que se derivan de la peculiar posición fronteriza de esta parte del Reino de Murcia y, en un sentido más general, a las múltiples implicaciones geográficas e históricas de la ocupación de un espacio.

    The issue of the Mazarrón alums has been studied, from different perspectives and scales of observation, by Felipe Ruiz Martín (The Spanish alums. An index of the European economic situation in the 16th century), by Alfonso Franco Silva (The alum of the kingdom of Murcia. A story of ambition, intrigue, wealth and power) and by Mariano Guillén Riquelme (A century in the history of Mazarrón 1462-1572. From the founding of the Casas de los Alumbres to the granting of the privilege of township). The three are essential readings for a complete knowledge of the multiple implications that the lighting business had in this town, and we must refer to them, as a reference, for the documentation of the topic. This article aims to take a look at the relevant territorial issues surrounding this lighting activity in the town of Mazarrón. And it is intended to do so from a double meaning of the territorial: paying attention to the jurisdictional aspects that derive from the peculiar border position of this part of the Kingdom of Murcia and, in a more general sense, to the multiple geographical and historical implications of the occupation of a space.
