    Es bien conocida la importancia que tuvo el alumbre hasta comienzos del siglo XX. Su uso en la industria textil hizo que fuera uno de los minerales más codiciados y cotizados, y su explotación dio lugar a un comercio no exento de juegos especulativos e incluso financieros de primer orden. Es por ello por lo que la investigación sobre los posibles yacimientos en nuestro país presentase unas expectativas muy interesantes y de esta manera en muchos territorios fue el inicio de la actividad minera. Si tomamos un plano histórico de la Península Ibérica donde se representen los yacimientos de alumbre, se observa claramente que es toda la franja mediterránea la que presenta el número mayor. La Corona de Aragón en sus territorios peninsulares se puede considerar como un campo de investigación importante para dar luz a la explotación de este mineral y sus usos posteriores que marcaron un comercio muy importante que llegado el momento se convertía en un monopolio, por el cual se luchaba. En este trabajo se pretende dar a conocer la importancia de la explotación del alumbre en este territorio y algunos colindantes, por ello encuadramos la investigación en pasadas épocas históricas, siendo la Edad Media un periodo determinante y constituye un foco de atención prioritario.

    It is well known how important alum was until the beginning of the 20th century. Its use in the textile industry made it one of the most coveted and sought-after minerals, and its exploitation gave rise to a trade that was not exempt from speculative and even financial games of the first order. This is why the research on possible deposits in our country presented very interesting expectations, and in this way, in many territories it was the beginning of mining activity, if we take a historical map of the Iberian Peninsula where the deposits of alum are represented, it is clearly observed that it is the whole Mediterranean strip which presents the greatest number. Likewise, due to its proximity, the Crown of Aragon in its peninsular territories can be considered as an important field of research to shed light on the exploitation of this mineral and its subsequent uses, which marked a very im-portant trade that, when the time came, became a monopoly, which was fought for. The aim of this work is to show the importance of the exploitation of alum in this and neighbouring territories, and for this reason we have framed the research in past historical periods, with the Middle Ages being a decisive period and a priority focus of attention.
