La ética urbana: respuestas a los dilemas de las ciudades del futuro desde una perspectiva histórica

    El objetivo del artículo es identificar las diferentes posturas sobre los principios éticos que han influido en la evolución de las ciudades a lo largo del tiempo, así como los dilemas del contexto actual con el fin de contribuir a la reflexión sobre la ética para las ciudades del futuro.

    Se presenta una revisión crítica de la ética en la dimensión histórica de las ciudades, incluyendo el contexto de la aldea y la supervivencia humana; las primeras ciudades y su relación con la religión; la revolución industrial y la sociedad del trabajo; la ciudad red y las megaciudades; el reconocimiento de la ciudadanía y su derecho al espacio público. El artículo aborda tres dilemas que enmarcan los retos éticos actuales en las ciudades: el incremento de la desigualdad e inseguridad social; el deterioro ambiental; y los efectos de la tecnología sobre la moralidad y el comportamiento ciudadano.

    Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre los ejes éticos para las ciudades del futuro: el compromiso, el respeto y la libertad; concluyendo que la ética para la ciudad debe reinventarse con el fin de crear una sociedad responsable, comprometida, respetuosa, libre y orientada al bien común.

    The research aimed to identify various positions on the ethical principles that have influenced not only the evolution of cities throughout history but also the dilemmas they currently face that contribute to the reflection on ethics for the cities of the future.

    This article presented a critical review of ethics in the historical dimension of cities, including the context of villages and human survival; the first cities and their relationship with religion; the Industrial Revolution and the work society; the network city and megacities; and the recognition of citizenship and the right to public space. The article discusses three dilemmas that frame the current ethical challenges for cities: the increase in inequality and social insecurity, environmental degradation and the effects of technology on morality and citizen behavior.

    Finally, it reflects on the ethical foundations for the future cities: commitment, respect, and freedom. It concludes that cities' ethics must be reinvented to create a responsible, committed, respectful, and free society oriented towards the common good.
