    La perspectiva de la profesión de Trabajo Social es un tema que requiere un análisis profundo para comprender los cambios significativos que se han generado en los últimos tiempos. Esta investigación se focaliza en la Región Litoral del Ecuador, con énfasis en la provincia de Manabí, con el objetivo de analizar la situación actual de la profesión en esta área, las opiniones y objeciones de los profesionales del sector, así como sus reflexiones sobre los avances en el campo durante los últimos cinco años. El objetivo principal fue analizar las perspectivas profesionales del Trabajo Social en la región litoral o costa de la provincia de Manabí. Para ello, se empleó una metodología cualitativa y descriptiva con el uso del nivel de investigación explorativo a su vez complementada con la investigación-acción participativa (IAP), con el fin de obtener una comprensión profunda de la población de estudio, compuesta por los profesionales del sector. Los primeros hallazgos revelaron que muchos profesionales destacan que los programas de especialización y maestría han contribuido a potenciar sus conocimientos y a aumentar la visibilidad científica de la profesión, tanto en el ámbito práctico como en el de la investigación. Sin embargo, otros señalan que las mallas curriculares deberían poner un mayor énfasis en la práctica profesional, para mejorar la formación integral de los futuros trabajadores sociales.

    The perspective of the Social Work profession is a subject that requires in-depth analysis in order to understand the significant changes that have been generated in recent times. This research focuses on the Coastal Region of Ecuador, with emphasis on the province of Manabí, with the aim of analysing the current situation of the profession in this area, the opinions and objections of professionals in the sector, as well as their reflections on the advances in the field over the last five years. The main objective was to analyse the professional perspectives of Social Work in the coastal region of the province of Manabí. To this end, a qualitative and descriptive methodology was employed, using an exploratory level of research complemented by participatory action research (PAR), in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the study population, composed of professionals in the sector. Initial findings revealed that many practitioners highlight that the specialisation and master's programmes have contributed to enhancing their knowledge and increasing the scientific visibility of the profession, both in practice and research. However, others point out that the curricula should place greater emphasis on professional practice in order to improve the comprehensive training of future social workers.
