Escuelas de Educación Ambiental. Un compromiso de los Colegios para la Protección del Medio Ambiente

    La reserva forestal protectora “El Malmo” ubicada en la ciudad de Tunja, a pesar de encontrarse dentro de la misma ciudad, es poco conocida por los habitantes, incluso por los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Rural del Sur, quienes no tienen certeza de su importancia. Por esta razón se realiza un acercamiento desde el grupo de investigación IDEAS de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, a dicha institución, con el fin de acompañarlos con unos talleres y salidas pedagógicas para incentivar a los estudiantes a conocer la importancia de la reserva, y en general de la protección del medio ambiente. Se realiza inicialmente un diagnóstico sobre el conocimiento de los estudiantes acerca de la reserva “El Malmo” y sobre otras temáticas ambientales, posteriormente se diseñan y llevan a la práctica cinco talleres de educación ambiental, incluyendo una salida pedagógica a un parque ecológico. Los principales hallazgos de este ejercicio muestran que es necesario ampliar en el currículo la enseñanza del cuidado del medio ambiente, no solo desde lo teórico en el aula sino a través de actividades lúdicas que generen un mayor contacto con la naturaleza, pues se observó que los jóvenes son bastante receptivos y comprensivos del daño que los seres humanos estamos causando en nuestro planeta. Además, se comprendió y validó, la importancia de realizar estos acercamientos entre instituciones educativas, en la búsqueda de la sostenibilidad de nuestros territorios.

    The “El Malmo” protective forest reserve is located in the city of Tunja, despite being within the same city, is little known by the inhabitants, even by the students of the Rural Educational Institution of the South, who are not sure of its importance. For this reason, an approach is made from the IDEAS research group of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia, to said institution, in order to accompany them with workshops and educational outings to encourage students to know the importance of the reserve, and in general of the environmental protection. Initially, it made a diagnosis on the knowledge of the students about the “El Malmo” reserve and about other environmental issues, later are designed and carried out five environmental education workshops, including a pedagogical trip to an ecological park. The main findings of this exercise show that it is necessary to expand the teaching of caring for the environment in the curriculum, not only from the theoretical in the classroom but through recreational activities that generate greater contact with nature, since it was observed that the young people are quite perceptive and understanding of the damage that human beings are causing to our planet. In addition, the importance of making these approaches between educational institutions, in the search for the sustainability of our territories, was understood and validated.
