    Con el regreso del primer viaje de Colón tras su encuentro con tierras americanas, comienza la introducción de nuevas especies animales y vegetales en la corte española. Inicialmente como curiosidad y demostración del descubrimiento, poco a poco estas especies pasaron a formar parte de diferentes espacios relacionados con la alimentación en la corte española y algunas de ellas llegaron a tener un peso considerable en su gastronomía. Con el objetivo de analizar la introducción y presencia de estos alimentos en la corte española se tomarán en cuenta tres espacios: los jardines, las despensas y los banquetes, contando para ello con la información proporcionada por los textos y por las representaciones artísticas de la época que nos dan testimonio de la paulatina incorporación y uso de alimentos procedentes de las Indias Occidentales en el ámbito nobiliario español.

    With the return of Columbus' first voyage after his encounter with American lands, the introduction of new animal and vegetable species at the Spanish court began. Initially as a curiosity and demonstration of the discovery, little by little these species became part of different spaces related to food in the Spanish court and some of them came to have considerable weight in its gastronomy. To analyse the introduction and presence of these foods at the Spanish court, three areas will be taken into account: the gardens, the pantries and the banquets, relying on the information provided by texts and artistic representations of the time that testify to the gradual incorporation and use of foods from the West Indies in the Spanish nobiliary sphere
