    ¿Rompió Kierkegaard su compromiso con Regina Olsen? La novela cuenta que sí. Kierkegaard dice que no. Solo el martirio de una autonegación absoluta puede explicar la paradoja de un matrimonio consumado en su misma acción sacrificial. Las siguientes páginas intentarán, en primer lugar, ubicar la historia de Kierkegaard con Regina en el marco de la novela romántica de formación. En segundo lugar, ubicar la novela de formación kierkegaardiana en el pathos del martirio. Entre lo uno y lo otro, media la paradoja de un compromiso absoluto imposible de quebrar, pero aparentemente roto.

    Did Kierkegaard break off his engagement to Regina Olsen? The novel says he did. Kierkegaard says he did not. Only the martyrdom of absolute self-denial can explain the paradox of a marriage consummated in its same sacrificial action. The following pages intend, first, to place Kierkegaard’s story with Regina within the framework of the building romantic novel. Secondly, to place the Kierkegaardian education novel within the pathos of martyrdom. Between the one and the other, it mediates the paradox of an absolute engagement impossible to break, but apparently broken.
