La obra de Henrik Ibsen y de August Strindberg toca temas de índole kierkegaardiano como personajes representando el estadio estético, ético y religioso, la fuerza simbólica de la mujer, y el cristianismo como estado de angustia constante. Autores contemporáneos como David Lodge en Terapia, personificará a través de Lawrence Passmore, su personaje principal, la transformación radical de este a partir de la lectura de Kierkegaard, ya que decidirá arrasar con su precario equilibrio burgués, debido a “la aparición de la libertad ante sí misma como posibilidad”. Paul Auster en La invención de la soledad recurrirá a temas como la soledad, el silencio de la interioridad y el vínculo paterno para crear una lectura empática del autor. Finalmente, Reanudación de Alain Robbe-Grillet establece una relación directa con Repetición de Kierkegaard, a través de una compleja trama en la que los personajes, espacios y cosas se transforman desencadenando devenir, recordando que esta lectura, como la del escritor danés nos obliga a leer, releer y desleer sus signos ad infinitum.
The work of Kierkegaard, within its philosophical content and literary experimentation, has been a direct and indirect influence on several authors, from past centuries and present times as well. The work of Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg portrays Kierkegaardian themes such as characters of theirs depicting the three stages of life, women as a symbolic strength, and Christianity as a constant state of anguish. Contemporary authors such as David Lodge in his novel Therapy, personifies through Lawrence Passmore, his main character, a radical transformation of himself after reading Kierkegaard’s Either/Or, because he will decide to abruptly end his precarious bourgeois equilibrium, in account of the apparition of freedom before itself as a possibility. Paul Auster in The invention of solitude will appeal to themes such as loneliness, the silence of interiority, and the paternal bond in order to create an empathic reading of the author. Finally, La Reprise (Repetition) by Alain Robbe-Grillet establishes a direct connection with Kierkegaard’s Repetition, throughout a complex plot where the characters, sceneries and objects constantly change in order to unchain the becoming, reminding us that this process of reading, as well as for Kierkegaard, forces us to read, reread and unread his symbols ad infinitum.
