    La tradición agrícola mesoamericana tiene una estrecha relación con la constitución étnica entre los grupos mesoamericanos a partir de la domesticación del maíz. Por tal razón, este artículo problematiza cómo entre los tének de la Huasteca potosina, este fenómeno constituye un proceso compartido en su conformación étnica. A partir de la lectura crítica de fuentes históricas escritas entre los siglos XVI y XIX, en contraste y con la discu-sión de los datos provenientes de la etnografía desarrollada en comunidades tének, se problematiza y explica cómo es que la tradición agrícola mesoamericana es un aspecto fundamental en la constitución étnica de los grupos mesoamericanos, por lo que tiene que ser estudiada y entendida como producto histórico, social y cultural que testimonia y articula el pasado con el presente de los grupos étnicos mesoamericanos, por tal motivo, se argumenta y defiende su importancia como patrimonio histórico y legado cultural que define parte de la identidad étnica mesoamericana

    The Mesoamerican agricultural tradition has a corresponding relationship with the eth-nic constitution among Mesoamerican groups starting with the domestication of corn. Therefore, this article problematizes how among the Tenek of the Huasteca potosina, this phenomenon constitutes a shared process in their ethnic formation. Based on the critical reading of historical sources written between the 16th and 19th centuries, in contrast and with the discussion of data from ethnography developed in Tenek communities, it pro-blematizes and explains how the Mesoamerican agricultural tradition is a fundamental aspect in the ethnic constitution of Mesoamerican groups. Therefore, the Mesoamerican agricultural tradition has to be studied and understood as a historical, social and cultural product that testifies and articulates the past with the present of the Mesoamerican ethnic groups. For this reason, its importance as historical heritage and legacy is argued and defended. cultural that defines part of the Mesoamerican ethnic identity.
