El presente artículo propone un comentario al comienzo del libro primero de la Política de Aristóteles. Se examinan principalmente dos afirmaciones, a saber: 1) la polis es anterior “por naturaleza” a la casa y a cada uno de nosotros; y 2) el ser hombre se cumple plenamente solo en el seno de la koinonia politike. Se contextualizan ambas afirmaciones teniendo en cuenta la inconmensurabilidad entre el pensamiento antiguo y el moderno

This paper proposes a commentary to the first two chapters of Aristotle’s Politics. Especially two statements are examined here: 1) the polis is prior by nature to the household and to each of us; and 2) being human needs the koinonia politike to accomplish itself. Both statements are contextualized bringing to the fore the inconmensurability between greek and modern thought.
