    Con la expansión de Ciudad de La Habana hacia el sur, desde década de los años 30 se planeó la creación de Lutgardita, barrio obrero construido por Machado en honor a su madre. Entre los servicios que vitalizaron la zona se encuentra el cine-teatro Lutgardita hoy Sierra Maestra, construido hacia 1932 con el estilo Art Decó. Con vistas a destacar sus valores, se estudiaron las tendencias estilísticas nacionales e internacionales que influyeron sobre las distintas edificaciones de la nueva urbanización, así como sobre su arquitectura.

    With the expansion of Havana to the south since the 30s decade, Lutgardita, a working class neighborhood was planned and built by Machado in honor of his mother. Among the services that vitalized the area there is the Lutgardita cinema-theatre actually Sierra Maestra, built around 1932 in Art Deco style. With the porpoise to demonstrate their values, national and international stylistic trends that influenced the various buildings of the new development, as well as its architecture were studied.
