    El texto constituye un análisis literario de la novela histórica de José Luis Corral El Cid. La atención se centra en la recreación de la imagen del protagonista Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar. Se pretende analizar cómo el autor traza los diversos aspectos de su personalidad presentándolo desde múltiples puntos de vista: los de otras figuras históricas con quienes lo relacionó el destino y principalmente el del narrador, personaje inventado que acompaña al héroe como escudero. Nos proponemos asimismo revelar y destacar el realismo que ha conseguido el novelista al recrear la figura del personaje histórico.

    The text consists in a literary analysis of the historical novel El Cid by José Luis Corral. It is focused on the recreation of the image of the protagonist Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar. Our purpose is to analyse how the author traces the diverse aspects of his personality presenting the hero from different points of view: those of the other historical figures with whom he interacts and principally that of the narrator, invented personage who accompanies the hero as a squire. Our purpose is also to reveal and enhance the realism achieved by the novelist recreating the figure of the historic personage.
