Presos en pontones: emigrados liberales españoles en Portugal en el reinado de D. Miguel (1828-1831)

    El presente artículo reconstruye, mediante el entrecruzamiento de fondos documentales de archivos españoles y portugueses de variada naturaleza (ministeriales, diplomáticos, consulares, militares, policiales, etc.), la secuencia de llegada y la procedencia de los emigrados liberales españoles durante la regencia constitucional de la Infanta Doña Isabel María y su permanencia durante el reinado de D. Miguel (1828-1831), hasta su expulsión. Asimismo, con un enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo, se analizan los cambios sucedidos en la red de depósitos, trasladados a partir de junio a pontones o embarcaciones fondeados en el río Tajo. Finalmente, se cuantifican los efectivos de los presos españoles en los depósitos y, a continuación, a bordo de los pontones (1828-1831) y, asimismo, los datos relativos a sus dedicaciones profesionales y a sus condiciones personales (edad, estado civil, lugar de nacimiento).

    This paper reconstructs, through the intersection of documentary collections from Spanish and Portuguese archives of varied nature (ministerial, diplomatic, consular, military, police, etc.), the sequence of arrival and origin of the Spanish liberals during the constitutional regency of Doña Isabel María and their stay during the reign of D. Miguel (1828-1831), until their expulsion. Likewise, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, the changes that occurred in the network of internment centers are analyzed, starting in June 1828, when they were transferred to pontoons or boats anchored in the Tagus River.

    Finally, the number of Spanish prisoners in the internment centers and then on board the pontoons (1828-1831) is quantified, as well as the data relating to their professional dedications and personal conditions (age, marital status, place of birth).
