    En la prensa ecuatoriana no es mucho el espacio dedicado al análisis sobre la migracióninternacional. Momentos de crisis como las vividas entre 1999-2002 y 2021-2023 han sido losmarcos para suscitar un mayor abordaje periodístico sobre este tema. Se promueven determinadasnarrativas textuales y visuales (con apoyo de imágenes y caricaturas) que sostienen unarepresentación social de la migración como espontánea, desordenada y emergente ante la coyunturaeconómica y no como un proceso constante arraigado a las cadenas y redes construidos yperpetuados por movimientos precedentes y por las lógicas de concentración del capital mundial.El estudio utiliza como marco de análisis los periódicos de El Universo y El Comercio, cruzandosus publicaciones desde un conjunto de variables o ejes como referencia para el análisis, entre ellos:la práctica migratoria como estrategia o alternativa de solución a manera individual o familiar, laincapacidad del Estado en el manejo del flujo migratorio, el tráfico de personas y el coyoterismo,entre otras.

    In the Ecuatorian press there is not much space dedicated to the analysis of international migration.Moments of crisis such as those experienced between 1999-2002 and 2021-2023 have been theframework to provoke a greater journalistic approach to this topic. Certain textual and visualnarratives are promoted (with the support of images and caricatures) that support a socialrepresentation of migration as spontaneous, disorderly and emerging in the face of the economicsituation and not as a constant process rooted in the chains and networks built and perpetuated by movements precedents and by the logic of concentration of world capital. The study uses the ElUniverso and El Comercio newspapers as a framework of analysis, crossing their publications froma set of variables or axes as a reference for the analysis, among them: the migratory practice as astrategy or alternative solution on an individual or family basis, the inability of the State inmanaging the migratory flow, human trafficking and coyoterismo, among others.
