    El origen y evolución de las Diputaciones provinciales en el territorio nacional, conlleva la creación de un patrimonio artístico propio que se va acrecentando con las políticas culturales de la institución, las cuales han fomentado la adquisición de obras de arte, programas de formación de artistas y han creado certámenes de pintura, consiguiendo crear con estas políticas un fondo artístico de indudable valor, en el que están representados artistas cordobeses y nacionales, fundamentalmente del siglo XX.
