    The present article aims to analyze the interactions between the Buenos Aires social groups and the corsairs established and active in the Rio de la Plata, during the independence conflicts of the 19th century. To do so, it uses the accounts of John Mawe and the editions of the Gazeta de Buenos Aires to identify the structuring of this society, making use of some editions of the journal and some documents from the Archivo General de la Nación, to build an analysis of the organization and interaction of the privateers with these societies. It is also our goal to understand how the communication between these groups took place, if and what was the degree of influence between them.

    O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar as interações entre os grupos sociais portenhos e os corsários estabelecidos e atuantes na região do Rio da Prata, durante os conflitos independentistas do XIX. Para tanto, o mesmo utiliza-se de autores como Halperín Donghi, Di Meglio e Ternavasio na construção de uma base historiográfica sobre a formação política e social local, servindo-se da análise dos relatos de John Mawe, das edições da Gazeta de Buenos Aires e de alguns documentos retirados do Arquivo General de la Nación, para desenvolver sua pesquisa. É nosso objetivo compreender como se dava a comunicação entre os grupos estudados, se e qual era o grau de influências entre eles.
