O discurso político-religioso e a narrativa anticomunista do período Vargas

    O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar e discutir os argumentos do discurso religioso na metade inicial do primeiro governo Vargas, a fim de entender o papel da religião na construção da narrativa anticomunista. A discussão se dará levando em conta o afastamento entre religião e Estado pela Proclamação da República e a reaproximação ocorrida após a chegada de Vargas ao poder, e na construção de uma ‘nova’ nacionalidade brasileira, cuja base era reclamada pela própria Igreja Católica. Para tal, buscar-se-á uma comparação entre a construção dos discursos religioso e político, suas bases e seus inimigos comuns, cujo combate permitiu a união entre esses dois elementos de poder e representação de poder perante a sociedade brasileira.

    The aim of this work is to present and discuss the arguments of religious discourse in the first half of the Vargas government, to understand the role of religion in the construction of the anti-communist narrative. It will consider the estrangement between state and religion that resulted from the Proclamation of the Republic and the rapprochement that took place after Vargas came to power, in the construction of a ‘new’ Brazilian nationality. To this end, a comparison will be made between the construction of religious and political discourses, their foundations and their common enemies, whose combat allowed for the union of these two elements of power and representation of power in Brazilian society.
