    Este texto, se orienta a través del trabajo etnográfico y la revisión bibliográfica de las leyendas de San Juan de los Remedios, ciudad localizada en la provincia de Villa Clara, Cuba, a la reconstrucción de la noción mítica que el tiempo y el espacio asumen en esa localidad. Se parte de que las leyendas construyen y expresan mitos, los cuales no se limitan a ser epifenómenos de las relaciones sociales, sino que son componentes indisociables de las mismas. En este caso, las leyendas han sido elementos actuantes en la historia del pueblo y, en menor medida, de la provincia, así como han creado una cierta geografía, con rutas y toponímicos propios que devienen identitarios. Por otra parte, el tiempo anual y meteorológicos está definido a través de estas propias historias. Así, la vida cotidiana y la identidad en el lugar está, en gran medida, establecida a partir de estas narraciones que, en términos occidentales, serían consideradas “sobrenaturales”.

    This text is oriented through ethnographic work and the revision of the legends of San Juan de los Remedios, city located in the province of Villa Clara, Cuba to the reconstruction of the mythical notion that time and space assume in that locality. It is based on the fact that legends construct and express myths, which are not limited to being epiphenomena of social relations, but are inseparable components of them. In this case, the legends have been active elements in the history of the town and, to a lesser extent, of the province, as well as they have created a certain geography, with their own routes and place names that become identities. On the other hand, the annual and meteorological weather is defined through these own stories. Thus, daily life and identity in the place is, to a great extent, established from these narratives that in Western terms and considered "supernatural".
