    La Inteligencia Artificial es un fenómeno relativamente reciente que, en los últimos años, ha supuesto cambios de relevancia en nuestra sociedad. Este hecho ha motivado a muchos actores internacionales a emprender la búsqueda de una normativa que verse sobre esta clase de tecnología. En este sentido, en el seno de la Unión Europea se ha elaborado un Reglamento en materia de IA, más comúnmente conocido como «Ley de Inteligencia Artificial», que recientemente ha entrado en vigor.

    En el presente trabajo se busca comprender en qué consiste la IA y cuáles son los problemas que está desencadenando y a los que trata de dar respuesta la regulación de la Unión.

    Al mismo tiempo, se pretende analizar el enfoque novedoso por el que ha apostado la UE frente a las normas ya existentes en esta materia, lo que no está exento de dificultades; así como hacer referencia a alguno de los aspectos de esta regulación que han sido objeto de críticas a lo largo de su elaboración y hasta su adopción definitiva

    Artificial Intelligence is a relatively recent phenomenon that has led to significant changes in our society in the last few years. This fact has motivated many international actors to start the search for a regulation on this kind of technology. In this sense, a Regulation on AI has been prepared within the European Union – more commonly referred to as the «Artificial Intelligence Act» – which has recently entered into force.

    The present study seeks to understand what AI consists of and the problems it is causing and to which the regulation of the Union tries to respond. At the same time, the aim is to analyse the innovative approach adopted by the EU in relation to existing regulations in this area – which is not without its difficulties –, as well as referring to some of the aspects of this regulation that have been the object of criticism until final adoption.
