El riu Vinalopó a Elx: Propostes de renaturalitzacio. Possibilitats i limitacions

    The Vinalopó is the main river in the province of Alacant, structur-ing the regions of Alt Vinalopó, Vinalopó Mitjà and Baix Vinalopó. Despite its importance, its basin is one of the most altered in the Xúquer River Basin Area. The main issues that put pressure on it include the overexploitation of the water resource, the alteration of the hydrological regime, and the presence of flood protection infrastructure, where the river has lost longitudinal, lateral, and vertical connectivity. A comparative analysis of the evolution of the river between the American flight B series (1956/57) and the most current PNOA (2017) in Elx shows how the river has been modified in recent decades. Like-wise, the danger and risk of flooding, the demarcation of the hydraulic public domain (HPD) and the current land uses in Elx involve certain limitations that have to be taken into consideration to propose recovery alternatives. This study presents two renaturation proposals for the Vinalopó in Elx, one for the urban section and the other for the mouth, both with the objective of restoring the hy-dromorphological processes and achieving a new river landscape with greater naturalness, but maintaining at the same time the safety of people and property against floods.

    El Vinalopó és el principal riu de la província d’Alacant; vertebra les comarques de l’Alt Vinalopó, Vinalopó Mitjà i Baix Vinalopó. Malgrat la importància del riu, la conca del Vinalopó és una de les més alterades de la Demarcació Hidrogràfica del Xúquer. Les principals pressions a què és sotmés són la sobreexplotació del recurs hídric, l’alteració del règim hidrològic, a més de la presència d’infraestructures de defensa enfront d’inundacions, on el riu ha perdut connectivitat longitudinal, lateral i vertical. Una anàlisi comparada de l’evolució del riu entre el vol americà sèrie B (1956/57) i el vol PNOA de màxima actualitat (2017) a Elx mostra com ha sigut modificat el riu en les últimes dècades. Així mateix, la perillositat i el risc d’inundació, la partió del domini públic hidràulic (DPH) i els usos de sòl vigents a Elx constitueixen certes limitacions que han de ser considerades en plantejar-hi alternatives de recuperació. Aquest estudi presenta dues propostes de renaturalització per al Vinalopó a Elx, una per al tram urbà i una altra per al de desembocadura; totes dues amb l’objectiu de restaurar els processos hidromorfològics i d’aconseguir un nou paisatge fluvial amb major naturalitat, però que mantinga al mateix temps la seguretat de persones i béns enfront de les inundacions.
